Lynx Lodge offers ultimate man-cation

The Lynx Lodge, set to open later this year in Lake Macquarie, New South Wales, Australia, has been billed as the “ultimate man-cation destination”.

A team of models will make up the “friendly and flexible” lodging staff and will offer on-the-spot back rubs, breakfast in bed and “sexy wake-up calls”.

“From grabbing your wood on the golf course through to getting filthy on a dirt bike, every day at the Lynx Lodge will leave you utterly shagged,” the website says. Evening entertainment will include mud wrestling and games of Twister.

The men’s deodorant manufacturer Lynx is holding a competition to mark the launch of the resort, where the winner will get to stay at the resort with seven friends.

While many men have expressed excitement at the idea on the company’s Facebook page, not everyone is thrilled, with some criticising it as “sexist” and being marketed like a “brothel”. Whether as a direct result or for another reason, the Facebook page now no longer exists. Surely it’s no worse than going to a Hooters bar in the US? And how many of those are there?

“The concept of the Lodge is a play on popular male fantasy, so the girls are there to hang out and ensure Lodge guests have fun,” Lynx spokeswoman Laura O’Donnell said.

A controversial TV commercial was made and found it’s way on to YouTube, see below.

“The Lodge prides itself on fantastic customer service and staff members will ensure that all of our guests have a perfect stay, but they will not be required to do anything that compromises their positions as hospitality professionals. The company insists it’s simply catering to demand and says staff will not be placed in compromising positions.

“All interaction between the guests and the girls will take place in common areas of the Lodge under the watchful eye of Lodge security staff.”

Guests who treat the staff inappropriately will be removed from the premises.

The resort is set to open in November this year and is a trail to gauge interest. The company cited a study of 500 men that showed that 66 per cent have taken a guys-only holiday with their friends in the last two years.

It will also offer activities such as golf, fishing, dirt bike riding, kayaking, pool and volleyball. Room rates have not yet been determined.

And since we’re talking about hot things like Hooters…Frankfurt has just become the first German airport to host a Hooters restaurant. Entrepreneurs Manfred Metzger and Bastian Klink are the owners and managers of the new franchise operation of the American fast food outlets noted for its all girl serving staff in skimpy uniforms.

Metzger and Klink said “We offer good food, fun and service, service, service.  Our motto is Hooters makes you happy.”  The eatery is located in Terminal 1 on Level 0 (Area C) above the Regional Train Station.  Positioned around the sports bar, ten flat-screen monitors present international sporting events.  A special smoking area is integrated in the restaurant.
