Would you spend $190 on an eyemask?

Who would have guessed that a patch of woven leather across your eyes could cost US$190? However, if you’re Bottega Veneta leather then the price tag is really no surprise when their woven leather totes regularly command $1,900. It’s a lovely little eyemask, sure, but even the most luxury little piece of travel gear can have its flaws, writes Jaunted.

For one, it’s leather. Unless they have a padded mesh backing on the reverse of that, your face is gonna get sweaty and do that eye socket-perspiration thing. Say goodbye to your eye makeup, ladies. For another thing, the strap is like one of the shiny elastic bra straps, which easily slip around and which will pull the eyemask most taut right over your eyelids. Everyone knows the best eyemasks have a thicker back strap and pull from the top and bottom corners, instead of the middle at your eyes.

Alas, anyone investing $200 in the eyemask alone either doesn’t travel much or cares too much about how they look sleeping on a plane to actually sleep on a plane.

Expect to see them appearing on passengers in your more luxury first class suites anytime soon.
